The EIT has just opened its largest-ever call under the EIT Higher Education Initiative (HEI), aimed at reinforcing innovation capacity in STEM fields across Europe. With a total budget of €70 million and up to €2 million per project over 24 months (2026–2028), this call invites higher-education institutions, businesses, research organisations and other partners to form consortia and submit transformative proposals.
What’s at stake? By 2028, the initiative expects to train 200,000 students, academics and staff in entrepreneurship, innovation and IP management, helping to bridge the gap between research and real-world impact.
This call emphasises stronger collaboration between EIT’s Knowledge & Innovation Communities (KICs) and European University alliances, a framework designed to turn universities into engines of innovation, talent and entrepreneurship.
If you’re part of a university, research centre or startup ecosystem, it’s time to start building consortia. Applications are open until 4 March 2026 (17:00 CET). Check the full call details, partner-matchmaking platform and eligibility requirements.
